Minutes of RCA Meeting of January 4, 2023
I. The meeting was called to order by President Michelle Simpler at 4:45pm
II. Current agenda was adopted as moved by Dennis Schree and seconded by Rick Lopez.
III. Minutes of the Dec. 14, 2022 RCA meeting were read and approved as moved by Katie Arambula and seconded by Matt Arambula.
IV. Nominations for the Election of RCA officers for 2023 was opened
A. Trustee, Mike Faltum asked for nominees for the office of President.
As Michelle Simpler was the only nominee, she was elected by acclamation.
B. President, Michelle Simpler asked for nominees for the office of Vice President. As Aimee Essary was the only nominee, she was elected by acclamation.
C. President, Michelle Simpler asked for nominees for the office of Secretary. As Alicia Davidson was the only nominee, she was elected by acclamation.
D. President, Michelle Simpler asked for nominees for the office of Treasurer. As Sarah Eddy was the only nominee, she was elected by acclamation. Sarah Eddy then resigned as Trustee.
E. President, Michelle Simpler asked for nominees for the office of Trustee. Dennis Schree was nominated and voted in unanimously.
V. President’s Report Michelle Simpler briefly explained the action taken by the officers regarding the RCA bank account following the Dec.14, 2022 meeting as recommended by the membership. Officers Michelle Simpler, Aimee Essary, Alicia Davidson, and Bonnie Catanzaro (former RCA president who was still on the account) went to the bank and opened a new account for RCA with the money that was in the previous account plus depositing another $2,000 raised in December 2022 for a
total of $23,000. Matt Arambula asked if the officers secured all the bank statements. Michelle responded that we did from the bank.
VI. Vice President’s Report: Aimee Essary reported that RCA currently has $23,000 in the account. She paid past due electric and gas bills for the RCA.
VII. Unfinished Business
A. Discussion of the four financial options as prepared by Mike Faltum’s
Finance committee followed. A motion was made and seconded to vote for one of the options. Paper ballots were passed, marked, and collected. Secretary Alicia and Treasurer Sarah tallied the votes.
There were 31 votes for the fourth option – that the RCA keep all the funds in one account and to decide about future RCA scholarship program. There were three votes for the other options.
It was then moved and seconded to select the name for the RCA scholarship fund. Two options were offered: “RCA/Ramona Gomez Scholarship Fund” or “Ramona Gomez/RCA Scholarship Fund”. It was moved and seconded to take a vote. Nineteen (the majority) voted for “RCA/Ramona Gomez Scholarship Fund”. Thirteen voted for the other choice.
B. Term of Trustees: It was moved by Craig McEwan and seconded by Dennis Schree to approve a two year term for RCA Trustees. Passed unanimously.
VIII. New Business
A. Next event will be Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast Jan. 18, 2023 from 8:00am – 11:00am.
Game/Bingo night is Jan.6, 2023 at 4:00pm
Secretary Alicia asked the membership to be thinking about a Rummage Sale for the community in perhaps late Feb. or March.
IX. Secretary’s Report: Proposed RCA By-Laws
The membership asked that Secretary Alicia e-mail to them the proposed By-Laws with the new items and showing the previous By-Laws as well.
Establishment of RCA Scholarship Committee:
It was moved by Melissa McIntire and seconded by Kate Arambula to establish a Scholarship Committee. This committee will recommend criteria for students selected to receive scholarships, the amount, and the
procedure they should follow. The committee will meet and report back to the membership at the Feb.1, 2023 RCA meeting. The following members volunteered to serve to serve on this committee:
Tess Shultis, Melissa McIntire, Craig McEwan, Pat Crowley.
X. Bill Cavaliere introduced the three County representatives and Sheriff who were in attendance: Tisha Green, Kelly Peterson, and Sherriff Billy Chadborn.
They remained after the meeting to visit with everyone interested.
XI. The next RCA Meeting will be February 1, 2023 at 4:30pm.
It was moved by Bill Cavaliere and seconded by Mike Faltum to adjourn the meeting at 6:15pm. Adjourned.
