FAQ

HOW MUCH BEEF COMES IN A WHOLE, HALF, OR QUARTER?

Typically, cut and wrapped, a whole beef is about 400 lbs, a half is about 175-200 lbs, and a quarter is about 100 lbs. Of course, it varies with each one.

HOW MUCH FREEZER SPACE WILL I NEED?

A whole will fill most of a large upright freezer. A half will fill about half of a large upright freezer. A quarter doesn’t take up much room at all. The rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space for every 35 – 40 pounds of packaged meat. A quarter of beef will easily fit into a 3-4 cubic foot chest freezer. A half beef needs about 8 cubic feet. You should plan for at least 16-17 cu. for a whole beef.

WHAT DO YOUR CATTLE EAT?

While we don’t specialize in grass fed beef, we usually do have cattle ready to harvest that are on an irrigated grass field. Most of the beef that we produce is fed a combination of products grown on our farm. These products include alfalfa, oat hay, fermented corn silage, and cotton seed. We don’t use growth hormones or anything that would compromise the safety of your family eating our beef. If it’s not safe for our family, it’s not safe for your family.
